General

Dragon IoT is a sophisticated home automation platform designed for people who manage multiple properties. Whether you have a vacation home, rental properties, or split time between cities, Dragon IoT lets you control all your connected devices from one elegant iOS app.

Unlike traditional smart home apps that focus on a single property, Dragon IoT is built from the ground up for multi-property management with location-based automation and real-time synchronization.

Dragon IoT is completely different from Apple Home and is not affiliated with Apple Inc. in any way.

Key differences:

  • No HomeKit: Dragon IoT does NOT use HomeKit or any Apple protocols. We connect directly to manufacturers' cloud APIs over the internet.
  • No Hub Required: Unlike Apple Home which needs a HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad as a hub, Dragon IoT works entirely cloud-based. No expensive hardware required.
  • Internet-Based: All device control happens over the internet using your manufacturers' APIs (Sensibo, Xiaomi, etc.). This means you can control your devices from anywhere in the world.
  • Multi-Property Focus: Built specifically for managing multiple properties, not just one home.
  • Your Own API Keys: You connect using your own API credentials from device manufacturers, giving you full control and privacy.

Features

Dragon IoT currently supports integration with popular smart home platforms including:

  • Sensibo (climate control)
  • Xiaomi smart home devices
  • BYD electric vehicles
  • And more coming soon

You connect using your own API keys from these services, ensuring full control and privacy.

Dragon IoT uses a privacy-conscious approach to location automation. You define zones around your properties (e.g., "within 1km of home"). Your iPhone calculates whether you're in a zone locally—your exact GPS coordinates never leave your device.

Only your zone status ("at home," "approaching," "away") is synced to the cloud, allowing automation rules to trigger while protecting your privacy.

Yes! You can share access to your homes with family members, housemates, or property managers. Each person has their own account and can control devices, receive alerts, and trigger automation based on their own location.

Dragon IoT's automation engine is powerful and flexible. You can create rules based on:

  • Location: Trigger when entering/leaving zones
  • Time: Schedule actions for specific times or days
  • Device state: React to device changes
  • Combinations: Complex multi-condition rules

Examples: "Turn on AC 30 minutes before arriving home," "Turn off all devices when last person leaves," "Send alert if door opens after 10 PM."

Privacy & Security

Your privacy is our top priority. Here's exactly what happens:

  • GPS coordinates: Processed locally on your iPhone, never sent to our servers
  • Zone status: Only coarse location (e.g., "at home" or "away") is synced to enable automation
  • Location history: Not stored anywhere

You can review our complete Privacy Policy for full details.

All API keys and credentials are encrypted both in transit (using TLS) and at rest in our database. We use industry-standard encryption practices and secure our infrastructure with row-level security policies.

Your API keys are only used to interact with third-party services on your behalf—we never share them with anyone.

No. We do not share, sell, or trade your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We don't use analytics or tracking services that would expose your data to others.

When you provide API keys for services like Sensibo or Xiaomi, we use those keys to interact with those services on your behalf—but this is not "data sharing" since you're using your own credentials.

Yes. You have the right to request a complete export of your data at any time. Contact us at privacy@dragontech.info and we'll provide your data in a machine-readable format within 30 days.

Technical

Dragon IoT integrates with third-party services using your own API keys. This means you need accounts with those services (e.g., Sensibo, Xiaomi) and any necessary subscriptions or API access they require.

This approach gives you full control—you're not dependent on Dragon IoT maintaining partnerships with these services, and you can remove access at any time.

Dragon IoT requires an internet connection to control devices. Unlike hub-based systems that work on your local network, Dragon IoT connects to your devices over the internet using manufacturer cloud APIs.

You can view your last-synced device states offline, but all device control, automation triggers, and real-time updates require an active internet connection.

Location detection works offline since it's calculated locally on your iPhone.

All your data is synced to the cloud, so simply install Dragon IoT on your new device and log in with your account. Your homes, devices, automation rules, and settings will all be restored automatically.

Yes! Dragon IoT is a universal iOS app that works on both iPhone and iPad. Your data syncs in real-time across all your devices.
